The Beginning

March 21

We notice that, yet again, the birds have decided to build a nest outside our front door. It’s high enough — we hope — to be safe from cats (we have quite a few in the neighborhood) and is sheltered beneath our porch roof.

The fact that we use our front door doesn’t seem to matter. A nest would be built, come hell or humans walking around on the porch.

Here mother bird assumes proper nest-building posture: tail feathers squished against the corner, pointing straight up.
